Special reception celebrating “Arctic Highways: Unbounded Indigenous People” and “Common Thread: Indigenous Perspectives from the Arctic” exhibitions at MoCNA. The “Arctic Highways: Unbounded Indigenous People” exhibition features multidisciplinary works by Indigenous artists from Sápmi, a cultural region traditionally inhabited by the Sámi People and North America. Artworks explore what it means to be unbounded, pointing to the restrictions of political borders sometimes arbitrarily drawn without regard to the landscapes occupied by Indigenous cultures for thousands of years.

Indigenous Peoples of the North have lived in harmony with the land and sea for millennia. The twelve artists and activists in the exhibition “Common Thread: Indigenous Perspectives” from the Arctic continue this relationship. Their works examine their connection to place, the natural world, and their communities.
