Event Date and Time: Saturday, July 13, 2024, | 7:00 AM (Table Set up) | 9:00 AM (Start) – 10:15 AM Flag Raising Celebration on the Plaza Ends 2 PM.
Event Location: Parade route from 131 Cathedral Place (Parking Lot) to East Palace Ave around the plaza, ending at Lincoln Ave, Santa Fe, NM.
Event Description:
Join us for the Santa Fe Inaugural Disability Pride Parade, the state's first annual event of its kind! This celebration of Disability Pride Month is dedicated to promoting awareness, championing rights, and honoring the contributions of individuals with disabilities. Our event recognizes every person's inherent dignity and worth, serving as a powerful catalyst for transforming societal attitudes and infrastructures and enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities in employment, housing, healthcare, and beyond.
The celebration will end with a flag-raising ceremony at Santa Fe City Hall. The Disability Pride Flag will be raised, symbolizing our community's resilience and pride. City officials will also read a proclamation of the City’s commitment to inclusivity and the rights of people with disabilities.
Who Should Attend: People celebrating disability pride, including individuals with disabilities, allies, families, friends, and supporters from the community.
What to Expect:
- Parade: A march through downtown Santa Fe, displaying our pride and solidarity.
- Entertainment: Enjoy music and entertainment on the plaza.
- Community Tabling: Various organizations, including city, state, county, and non-government organizations, will provide information and resources.
- Water Available: Stay hydrated with water along the route.
- Accessibility: The parade route, viewing areas, and post-parade activities will be accessible. Sign language interpreters, accessible transportation, rest areas, and portable restrooms will also be available.
- Safety and Emergency Plans: The Santa Fe Police Department will provide security, and first aid stations will be available.
Accessibility Accommodations: We are committed to making our event as accessible and enjoyable as possible for all attendees. The parade route and post-parade activities will be fully accessible, with provisions for sign language interpreters, accessible transportation, rest areas, and portable restrooms.
