Join us at CURRENTS 826 Gallery for an opening reception featuring a site specific performance on Friday, December 15th from 6 - 8pm.

Fan will present their idiosyncratic, linguistic work throughout all the rooms of the gallery, activating the architecture of the space as a part of their maze-like, interactive exhibition.

𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 我慌了 is a winding urge to speak suffocating dread, and a simultaneous demand to recognize the inability to articulate what needs to be said.

Meditating on this linguistic and emotional impasse, Fan constructed a typeface maker in the hopes of facilitating and expanding upon the above dialectic.

The typeface maker produces two personal typefaces – “口” and “Wrong R”. The peculiar appearance of characters and words disarms and disrupts language’s capacity to deliver and enforce entrenched power structures.
