“Day of the Dead” is a celebration in remembrance of deceased friends and family that draws on indigenous and European traditions. In Mexico there are parties and parades.
Graves are decorated and offerings of sugar skulls, tamales and alcoholic spirits are placed to entice the dead back for a visit. The “calavera” or Day of the Dead skull is wildly popular today in American culture.
In art the stylized skull is traditionally covered in ornate flower and animal patterns in bright colors representing life and vitality.
This class is team taught by both Mickey Bond and Laura Tarnoff.
You will have two expert instructors at this class!
