IAIA Storytelling Jam is an invitation to IAIA students, alumni and faculty to share their written, recorded or constructed multi-media stories together in a space anchored in creativity and community. The storytelling jam will be guided by IAIA alumni, slam poet and multidisciplinary artist Elle Maldonado (Acoma Pueblo, Diné), and Khalil DaTerra, 500K+ followers on TikTok and short-form creator. Friends, family, and supporters of IAIA community members are welcome to attend.
Students who wish to further develop their stories will be offered the opportunity to reimagine their narratives for film in partnership with Emmy winning, ABC journalist, Ricardo Montero and The Citizen Journalism Project at Global Media Lab at NYU. Over the coming months storytellers will transform their stories into culturally impactful, short-form videos. Selected stories may also be featured in SiXTYseconds, a new micro-narrative performance series in New York City.
