ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
DETROIT LIGHTNING
Recently celebrating their 10th year entertaining New Mexico's Deadheads and casual music fans alike,Detroit Lightning was born out of a nostalgic whim and has proven to be an accurate, heartfelt tribute to the Grateful Dead's legacy. Complete with three-part harmony vocals, elongated, far reaching improvisatory sections and solid rhythmic structure,DetroitLightning strives to give the audience a genuine Grateful Dead experience, while presenting it in a fresh, unique way that only these four talented musicians could deliver.Ben Wright (guitar) captures the spirit and adventurous nature of Garcia's solos with his own twist on that unmistakable Jerry tone. Josh Martin (bass) has no problem emulating the Phil sound, but gives the band a more grounded, funky edge than the Dead ever had. Paul"Feathericci" Groetzinger(drums) uses his diverse background to perfectly distill the Dead's double-drummer sound, while adding his own funky, driving style. Kevin Zoerning (keys) fill the shoes of the Dead's Many great keyboardists with elements of jazz, classical and, if you listen closely, shades of every genre imaginable. Apart from joining forces inDetroitLightning, you've seen these musicians onNew Mexico stages for many years, in such bands as D Numbers, Boris and the Saltlicks, Joe West, Mary & Mars, The Circus Luminous Orchestra and more.
